“I love different kinds of embroidery, especially silk ribbon embroidery, because it gives a very nice volume effect. When I saw your works at the first time, I was very impressed. They are very gorgeous. Then I bought your book and started to learn a new art of embroidery. Currently I create embroidery designs and pictures, I combine acrylic painting and hand embroidery to make colorful and textural pieces. I would like to ask you to give your opinion about my works, it means a lot to me to become your professional opinion, of course if you have time for it.”

 

I asked Svetlana to tell us about her journey in embroidery and she replied.

 

“I found my love for embroidery and needlework at a very early age, and after a two-year needlework course I started creating different items of clothing and home accessories for friends and relations. After a time, I rediscovered and taught myself the old techniques of silk ribbon embroidery. Since then, I design and produce home accessories, costume jewellery and teddy bears, where I use ribbon embroidery techniques.

I enjoy combining different handcraft techniques and materials with creative ideas, thereby developing and producing something that is unique. My passion for silk ribbon embroidery began after seeing some silk ribbon embroidery works on YouTube. I was charmed by so realistic and gorgeous works. Then I found and bought your book at the bookstore and started to learn a new art of embroidery. Your works were inspirated me to create something nice. It was very difficult to become some printed panels or kits, that´s why I began to paint my own. Silk ribbon embroidery and flat embroidery are the focus of most of my works, because they have no limitations or restrictions in terms of freedom of design, composition, or execution. Ribbon embroidery with silk ribbons is a type of embroidery that transforms regular products into something artistic, special and unique. With this stitch technique, which has many facets, I can create three-dimensional lifelike motifs with great realistic effects. I have started to set up my Instagram page, it`s not yet finished.
