Blog > Another Beautiful Bicycle in Embroidery

Greetings from a cold and rainy Cape Town. Winter has arrived here and there's no mercy for us :)
.
I thought I would show you one of my favourite pieces of embroidery! I have shown it before but many new readers won't have seen it yet and those who have seen it before are sure to enjoy looking again!
.
It’s such a special piece of embroidery and I have seen many embroidery pieces over the years...

.
This beautiful bicycle scene was embroidered by the talented Annamaria Kelly from Kloof in KZN South Africa and was featured in Inspirations Magazine (issue 74) titled "Country Garden”.

See how she used clay pots (that she made herself) for the pot plants? And I love how she created the foliage with yarn and ribbon. And look at the incredibly well-crafted bicycle that Annamaria’s friend made for this project. It’s exquisite!
.

.
This design was entered in the 2011 International Silk Ribbon Embroidery competition that I arranged for. And out of so many exquisite entries, Annamaria’s design won first prize. She teaches in Kloof KZN near Durban and you can read more about her here
.
.

Bicycles seem to be the most popular now. Have a look  here  at this gorgeous piece by the talented Karen Nell/Swanepoel from Knysna.
.
Enjoy your embroidery everyone,  contact us  if you have any questions.

Until next time…
Love
Di
