Blog > Dandelion Flower Fairy

Today I have a beautiful Fairy to show you…I am sure that many of you will enjoy seeing him, as he looks so happy under the Dandelions :)   The Dandelion Flower Fairy™, embroidered by the talented Marina Zherdeva from Moscow: my friend and stockists of all my ribbons, panels, books and DVDs.     This is the original artwork by Cicely Mary Barker…     and this is how Marina has made it into a masterpiece in embroidery, so dimensional…. with the prettiest shades of yellow and green. Marina stocks all my ribbons that she used for this lovely design.   Click on the image to enlarge.     I love the way she made the dandelion and the leaves.   Click on the image to enlarge     You could learn this kind of leaf-making technique on page 99 of my Flower Fairy™ book. The Dandelion stems are made the same way as shown on page 96 and 97 of the same book by using a tightly twisted straight stitch.   Click on the image to enlarge       Don’t you just love the way that Marina made the yellow wings? These are stumpwork shapes, which are made separately, cut out and then applied onto the main design. The wings are therefore raised off the surface of the fabric, creating a lovely dimension. This technique you will learn on page 105 to 107 of my Flower Fairies™ book.   Thank you Marina for always sharing your talent with everyone    I have some beautiful masterpieces to share with you in the weeks to come.
Enjoy the rest of your day
Love
Di
