Blog > From Koala....

From Brisbane, Australia       Good evening everybody, hope you are having a good day :)     It’s been busy, busy, busy….. and after the fifth workshop at the wonderful Koala Conventions, I have finally found some time to send you a photograph of the fabulous Koala shop.    Click on images to enlarge                     I wish you could see all the beautiful kits and embroidered pieces on display. There are so many talented teachers and designers around. Wish you could be here!                   I have met the talented Alison Cole, renowned for her gorgeous goldwork… Jane Nicholas - everyone knows Jane for exquisite stumpwork… Jan Kerton, such a talent designer and teacher… Lesley Turpin-Delport is also here and her designs are just fabulous.   Karen Torrisi with her beautiful Tambour Beading…. Robyn Alexander with her gorgeous felting and lacework… Annie London with her French Trapunto … Trevor Penney who teaches DIY framing (isn’t that a wonderful idea?)…       Bets Maas, with her superb Barbola work…. Jenny McWhinney, famous for her life-like animal designs …. and so many others - it’s hard to describe how wonderful this convention really is.                         All of the workshops have been hard work but good fun and I enjoyed meeting Australians from all across the country.  Many of the embroiderers have been attending Koala year after year (for some it is their 11thyear) and I can see why ….. It is a wonderful way to reconnect with old friends again. Also to have some precious me-time which is so important, isn’t it?   Click on images to enlarge                               Here are some photos of the Roses and Peonies (Box full of Lessons 4) which Hazel and I taught on Monday and Tuesday.                         Close-up of Peonies in the design    Today we taught Floral Patio (Box full of lessons 5) along with Roses and Peonies and I think everyone enjoyed themselves and learned some new tricks.   Click on the image to enlarge                     The Roses in silk and organza workshop is on Saturday and Sunday…                       Peace rose    Here is a lovely piece by Claire Ruby, a talented teacher who attended one of my workshops. It is the Floral Vista design from my Dreamscapes book. Dont you think it is gorgeous?                               BTW if any of you are looking for Dreamscapes book (which is out of print in the rest of the world) Australian Needle Arts have some in stock for you at a very reasonable price!   Have a lovely day and don’t work too hard!     I will post again from Cairns next week     Love     Di   ♥
