Twisted straight stitch works well with ribbon.
To form the stem of a flower and long blades of grass,
(or for an interesting variation on pointed leaves,)
twist the ribbon before inserting your needle to the back.
Here is another example...
Hint:
Every now and then, untwist the ribbon by holding your work upside down to allow the ribbon to unwind before making the next stitch.
If necessary, use a matching thread and tiny stab stitches between the twirls to secure the twisted ribbon.
Do this wherever the stem or the grass needs shaping or when the stitch is too loose on your design.
