The Bicycle by Shirleen Man from Johannesburg
.
Hi everybody, I want to show you a lovely piece by Shirleen Man from Johannesburg. Shirleen has been a Dicraft customer for many years now and she sent me this lovely Bicycle design that she had made. Don’t you just love it?
.
.
I asked her to tell me a little more about her embroidery journey and Shirleen replied:
“I have been embroidering for more than 30 years with Salli Van Rensburg. My mother used to embroider large table clothes in satin stitch. I think this is where I developed the love of hand embroidery. We are three sisters, and all enjoy needlework. But each of us have our own favourites. My eldest sister like to do fine needlework, my youngest sister likes to do different stitches and raised work. I enjoy all kinds as well as ribbon work. I also like to decorate on our clothes to make them look different and special. I have made many of your big ribbon work pictures and I just love ribbon embroidery.”
.
See how Shirleen used my silk and organza ribbon for the flowers near the bicycle seat? I love how she did that.
.
Thank you, Shirleen for sharing with all of us! Have a good day today everyone.
Love
Di
